[When registering we send you details of an excellent national nanny tax company. They work like this:
a) you pay them a small yearly fee and they take care of all this for you
b) you provide them with a P45 or N.I. number for your staff member and they send you pay slips monthly. All you have to do is write a cheque to your employee to cover the amount less stoppages on the pay slip.
c) Once a month or quarterly you write another cheque to cover Tax and N.I. for the Inland Revenue.

A standard police check can be obtained by any individual applying direct to the police for a conviction check via the police national computer. Once the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) has cleared its backlog this service will cease.
In the very best interest of children involved in the services we offer, Cheltenham Nannies (CN) has acted upon the circular it received from the Department of Education and Skills (ref: DfES/0278/2002) which advised that ‘enhanced CRB Disclosures should be carried out for all people who seek appointment to positions which will bring them into contact with children’.
This ‘comprehensive suitability check’ involves the CRB checking:
- the police national computer for convictions
- for local police intelligence – to see if individual has any history of involvement in any criminal investigation
- with the Department for Education and Skills for checks on the List 99 (paedophile register)
- and authenticating the applicant's address information
CRB Disclosure process:
Through CN, the Disclosure form holds sections that must be completed by the individual, CN and the umbrella organisation who connects with the CRB direct and we candidates do not hold a current CRB disclosure, this process is launched once candidates have been successful in finding work through our organisation.
To cover the cost of this important service, staff pay £40.50. Please note private individuals cannot apply directly to the CRB for these disclosures.
The CRB started around March 02 and the time it takes for individuals to receive their completed Disclosure has been affected by the existence of a backlog such as the large numbers of teachers requiring disclosures. Currently (Aug 02), the time it takes to receive the completed disclosure is around 40 days. As with police checks, employers can choose to start their new staff whilst the CRB disclosure is in progress or wait until the Disclosure is complete before they do so.
Unlike police checks, CN will receive separately a copy of the Disclosure and the individual will also receive a copy to keep and show their employers. Please make a six week note in your diary to ask your staff to sight the finished article.

[Why not book our HOME CONSULTANCY VISIT which was created just for you! In the comfort of your own home, the visit will be undertaken by a senior member of staff who is very experienced in the field of child care, especially in Nannies. This will enable one or both parents to learn first hand about the process of choosing and managing a Nanny and ask as many questions as they wish about using a Nanny to care for their children.] Back to Top
[Nannies can be a real boon to families who have more than one child especially when both parents work some way from their home. They swell your child care team to three and used and respected as a very important member of that team, Nannies can be very supportive and amazingly capable when caring for your children. Having someone working for you who can help your children from one developmental stage to the next can be a vital tool to busy parents who want the very best level of care for their children in their abscence.] Back to Top
[Nannies usually look for sole charge positions where both parents are working. They will undertake all duties that are connected with the children (known as Nursery Duties) and positions available to them vary from as little as 8 hrs a week to as much as 60hrs per week! Many seek live-out posts only, but some will live-in if separate accommodation is offered. Newly qualified Nannies may accept posts where the accommodation is part of the home. Most Nannies offered by Cheltenham Nannies have an excellent level of experience to offer with references to match and have a child care qualification supported by a recent police check. We can provide Nannies for temporary or permanent posts.
Mothers Helps are generally aged 17yrs to 23, will live-in or out and whilst most are looking for full time work for weeks or months rather than years, some will work part days or undertake after school care and may stay for much longer periods. If sole charge duties are higher than 50% then these child carers are termed Nanny/Mothers Helps. Their duties can include some light or general housework but their main aim is to grow their experience with young children. When housework is their main function, they will be termed Nanny/Housekeepers.
Au Pairs are invariably European students coming to England to improve their English. They are best suited to school age children and are not considered suitable to care for babies or young ones up to 4.5yrs of age. They will help with light housework and will work up to 30 hrs a week. Cheltenham Nannies do not place au pairs because it is not possible for us or our Parents to interview them in advance or verify their authenticity.]
