Enhanced CRB disclosure
[In the best interest of children, Cheltenham Nannies (CN) has acted upon the circular it has received from the Department of Education and Skills (ref: DfES/0278/2002) which advises that 'enhanced CRB Disclosures should be carried out for all people who seek appointment to positions which will bring them into contact with children'.
This 'comprehensive suitability check' involves the CRB checking:
- the police national computer for convictions.
- for local police intelligence - to see if individual has any history of involvement in any criminal investigation.
- with the Department for Education and Skills for checks on the List 99 (paedophile register).
- and for teachers; with the Department of Health to check that the individual has no history of illness that might preclude them from working with children.
The process:
[The Disclosure form holds sections that must be completed by the individual, CN and the umbrella organisation who connects with the CRB direct. Strictly, if a candidate does not already hold an enhanced CRB disclosure, then this process is put into motion once candidates have been successful in accepting work through our organisation.
Currently staff pay 40.50 for this service. Private individuals cannot apply directly to the CRB for such a Disclosure.
Once applied for, it takes approximately 6 weeks to receive a CRB disclosure and both CN and the candidate are sent copies.

[Strictly speaking no training is necessary. However, we would only consider offering an untrained Nanny if he or she were very well experienced and had excellent, relevant references to offer. We believe, at the very minimum, a sole charge untrained Nanny must have undergone recent Child Care First Aid training. Our Nanny training courses include Child Care First Aid and are strong on Safety. Keep in mind, the best positions are generally taken by trained and experienced Nannies.]

[If you obtain a placement through CHELTENHAM NANNIES the majority of our live-in placements are for 5 out of 7 days, Monday to Friday or occasionally Tuesday to Saturday with any further days of working compensated for by overtime or time of in lieu. Hours for live-in staff vary from 45 to 55 hours per week.]

[a) Employers Liability insurance = check with you employers that they hold this insurance which will often be on their household contents insurance and will cover you if you break a leg or a Ming vase while on duty b) Business Insurance = this insurance is essential if you wish to carry children in your car whilst on duty. This rarely costs anything but you must contact your car insurance people and insure they add 'business use' to your policy c) Personal Liability Insurance = this is an optional insurance which will cover lawyers fees were you to be prosecuted whilst caring for children. For qualified Nannies over the age of 19yrs. this insurance can be obtained through PANN at 01332 372337 ]

Candidates who wish to mail verified copies of their documents to us, can now do so by downloading this
Post Office form and take it completed, together with copies and originals of the documents you wish to send us, to your local main post office and they will stamp and verify the copies which enables you to send them to us first class mail to:
