If you wish to undertake a training course that will provide you with the skills necessary to promote the healthy development and safe and happy welfare of babies and young children (0-7yrs) the following courses are available:

The NNEB Diploma was a revered stand-alone 2 year full-time course and has now been superceded by the DCE (Diploma of Childcare & Education) which is governed by the CACHE organisation.

The NNEB Certificate was a 1 year full-time course that is now known as the CCE. Please note that complicated as it may seem, at one time the NNEB Diploma was known as the NNEB Certificate!

The BTEC Diploma in Nursery Nursing is a well respected 2 year full time course which can become the basis of higher education qualifications related to the care and education of children.

The un-assessed NVQ2 in Childcare can be achieved by completing an evening course at an FE college whereas the assessed NVQ2 and 3 in Childcare is achieved through study in the work-place, primarily Day Nurseries.

Please note that these qualification do not provide specific modules covering Nannying and that therefore would-be Nannies are recommended to make necessary research in order to learn the basics of Nannying before embarking on a career as a Nanny. Keep in mind that not every person who wishes to Nanny may possess the necessary qualities or skills. We recommend you discuss your interest with experienced Nannies, read books on the subject (we are happy to recommend titles) or attend our excellent Nanny Workshop which assesses your suitability to become a Nanny and provide you with some of the knowledge we have gained through 10 years of providing parents and their children with some of the best-trained nannies available.

Note: Cheltenham Nannies believes that the very minimum qualification required to undertake sole charge of children is 2 years relevant, well referenced experience plus First Aid training specific to child and baby care.
